These guidelines for the use of AI on radicalpolitics.org are preliminary until the Editorial board decides on more permanent guidelines.
Acceptable use of generative artificial intelligence:
- Language cleanup: It is permissible to use AI to clean the language used in articles in the same way as asking a friend for help. This does not need to be disclosed.
- Information gathering: It does not matter whether information was originally found via conferences, search engines or conversations with an AI robot, as long as the claims are confirmed by reliable sources. In the case of controversial claims, a direct link to the sources in the article should be provided to strengthen credibility.
- Illustrations: Images created in whole or in part with AI can be used as illustrative images, provided that they are marked with “created using artificial intelligence”.
- Credit: It is permissible, but not required, to thank an AI for writing assistance in the acknowledgments at the end of the article.
Unacceptable Use of Artificial Intelligence:
Lack of Fact Checking: It is not acceptable to use sources or claims from an AI without having fact checked them.
AI as a Source: You cannot refer to an AI as the source of a claim. Reference should always be made to sources with a human author. Claims that originate solely from AI must be fact checked before they are used in the text.
